About LDC

Lancaster Designer Craftsmen  was formed in 1946 as the Conestoga Valley Chapter, Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, and is one of the oldest chapters in the state.  It is a membership organization which shares the same purpose as the State Guild: “To encourage and promote the Pennsylvania Crafts and Craftsmen”.

Chapter meetings are held throughout the year, usually at a member’s studio.  The dates for these meetings are listed in our newsletter, and include a holiday party in January and a suite at a Barnstormers game in June.  Meetings provide an opportunity to share current work and new ideas with other craftspeople.  As a member you will receive a newsletter to keep you informed of current events and an annual membership directory.

There is also the sister organization Market House Craft Center, which seeks to promote PA crafts as well and uses education as its means to do so.  For 18 years MHCC has been producing the highly regarded Strictly Functional Pottery National show (SFPN), now held each Fall.  LDC produces the popular Art & Craft Show Directory, now in its 22nd year, which is sold through local stores.

There are many ways to become involved in the activities and running of LDC and MHCC, as well as helping out with local events run by the State Guild, and we look forward to your participation and input.  Even more opportunities become available once you attain Chapter Juried status, please contact Ted Rasmussen for more information.  Of course, please feel free to contact any officer or board member if you have questions about our organizations.
